the fortieth birthday of El Dorado East Regional Park is being celebrated in Long Beach

For residents of Long Beach, Carol Hillis became a very frequent sight, riding her bike throughout the town. For twenty five years she was a local teacher, but for the last six years she just subbed. She was also an avid runner and cyclist.

Along San Gabriel River and through her own neighborhood in Long beach, and even at El Dorado Regional Park, she would go and cycle and simply enjoy doing so, as it was just another way to get in some exercise. This summer, she recently died of cancer at the age of sixty one.
